Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So, it is Christmas Eve already over here in the UK, well the very early hours anyway. It is time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful time and have a great New Year too.

As for the site, well we will be taking a short break over the festive period... but do not worry, Sexy Never Left will be back up and running in the new year, the 5th January to be precise. Until then, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

See you all soon.

SEXY NEVER LEFT PRESENTS: Best Albums/EP’s Of 2009

So the time has come again, where the year is almost at a close and you have to decide which releases impressed you the most when it comes to music. The fact is there have been a few quality releases this year and not from people who have been in the limelight a lot either.

Here are some (not all, as I could be here listing numerous projects) of my favourite albums from this year, in no particular order:

Beverley Knight - 100%

Beverley is one of those elite few artists within the industry that just consistently delivers with whatever she does and her latest release was definitely no different, infact there are a number of amazing songs on this album, the best for me being ‘Breakout’; ‘Square Peg’ and ‘Force Of Nature’ (which is a bonus track via download from the album over here). All in all, it was a very good album and definitely showcased Beverley for the talent she is within music. It’s just a shame she’s so underrated and has been overlooked many times within the industry, hopefully that will change. She certainly has the talent, such a pity that she’s also very underrated within the industry despite being so amazingly talented.

Chrisette Michele – Epiphany

Chrisette had an amazing debut a few years back, which slipped virtually under the radar, so when I heard a new album was due to be released, I was definitely looking forward to hearing this and I honestly don’t think I was disappointed with this release either. Now it wasn’t anything like her debut album and although I do really love this album, I think it still comes a close second to her debut, which really was that good. The best song on this album for me, well... I don’t think I could choose, all bring something different and completely unique to this project. Well worth the money spent on it.

Melinda Doolittle – Coming Back To You

I’ve been a fan of Melinda since she was on American Idol a few years back and was definitely waiting patiently for her to release something of her own; we were not disappointed when Melinda released her debut project, ‘Coming Back To You’. I honestly don’t feel there was one bad song on the album, all songs complimented the previous well and that is one of the reasons why I feel this has to be one of the best releases of this year. Plus the fact that Melinda Doolittle could sing absolutely anything and it would still sound so magical.

Joy Jones – Godchild

Easily one of the best albums released this year, for me this artist came from nowhere, I hadn’t heard much on Joy until this album virtually fell into my lap online and as soon as I played it, I instantly adored it. I must admit, the fancy artwork for this project caught my eye and right then I knew that this album would be something interesting, something worth checking out. I wasn’t wrong, from beginning to finish this album oozes so much Soul it’s pretty hard to stop playing it. Definitely one of my best purchases this year.

Jaspects – The Polkadotted Stripe

This is a late addition to this list for me; I knew little bits about this group already and had heard bits of their previous work. But it was upon hearing ‘2012’ from this very album which features the equally talented Janelle MonĂ¡e that I decided to further check out their work. I was not disappointed and therefore this album makes it onto my list. This is an amazing project worth purchasing, if you haven’t already. You have certainly been missing out.

Backstreet Boys – This Is Us

I’ve been a huge fan of these guys since forever, so upon their release of their latest album. I bought it straight away, no hesitation, nothing. They are the only pop group I make time for and always will be.

This album wasn’t going to match the incredible, ‘Millennium’, which was released a decade ago (unbelievably). The follow up to 2007’s ‘Unbreakable’, this album has definitely shown that the guys aren’t one trick ponies when it comes to delivering a great album and the highlight for me was definitely the song, ‘Undone’. One thing I do have to say though, since the release of this album a few songs have surfaced online that most definitely could have made this project, so it just goes to show how much material they truly had. An album well worth checking out.

Maxwell – BLACKsummers’night

This year saw the return of Maxwell, now last year I was pining for a full version of ‘Pretty Wings’ from this album, which we had only been teased with. Towards the middle of this year, I was definitely awaiting the release of this album based upon the fact of loving the first single and boy, we were not disappointed.

Now this is apparently the first instalment of a trilogy of albums, so we should have more amazing projects like this very soon, hopefully not years down the line like we had to wait for this. Maxwell certainly knows how to keeps his fans on their toes and with that said, it was definitely well worth the wait.

Mamas Gun – Routes To Riches

Mamas Gun are a group I have been following musically for some time now and I’ve virtually been waiting patiently, well kinda, for their debut studio album to actually see the light of day. Towards the tail end of this year, it actually did and boy, it was well worth the wait. Even though I had heard most of the songs already on the groups Myspace page, I enjoyed the album from beginning to finish.

I honestly do not think I could choose a favourite from this release, all of the songs from this album bring something different to the project as a whole. I was certainly eagerly anticipating this release, well worth the wait. No doubt there will be bigger and better things to come from this group; they certainly have the goods to be around a very long time within music.

Ledisi – Turn Me Loose

This album is just pure gold from beginning to finish, I honestly don’t think there is one bad song on this project. It really is that good. But do we expect anything less from the talented, Ledisi? The answer is, no we do not.

Ledisi is always an artist within music who consistently delivers the goods and shows exactly why it is that she means business, no one can touch her albums, she always raises her game upon each release and this album was certainly going to be no different. I don’t think I could pick a favourite on the album, but if I had to, then I would probably pick the song, ‘Alone’. It was the very first snippet I heard and definitely made me want to hear more. All in all, a truly fantastic album that is worth every penny.

Syleena Johnson – Chapter 4: Labor Pains

Syleena Johnson remains one of the best talents within music, without a shadow of a doubt. Yet, she still remains so underrated, so it baffled me why this album didn’t receive the airplay it truly deserved. You always know that Syleena is going to release something pretty special and this project really wasn’t going to change the fact that this artist knows how to deliver the goods within music.

For me, this album has to be one of the best releases of this year without a shadow of a doubt; you always know you’ve stumbled upon a good album when you don’t have the need to skip past songs. This album continued to showcase exactly why this artist deserves more love within music, despite being incredibly underrated Syleena consistently churns out amazing album after amazing album and upon hearing she is working on her next release, that too should be no different. A fantastic album from beginning to finish.

Melanie Fiona – The Bridge

Melanie Fiona seem to come from nowhere this year, especially upon hearing her debut single ‘Give It To Me Right’, a song that kind of sprung up on you and pinpointed that this was certainly an artist to keep your attention focused on. Upon hearing more from this artist, you certainly got the feeling she meant business and she had the talent to go with it, the majority of her material matched up to the quality of the first single, which is very important if you are investing your hard earned cash on a project.

Needless to say, ‘The Bridge’ definitely matched up to the hype and has delivered some pretty solid material since hitting record shops over here earlier in the year. Melanie also kept things fresh with the release of her very own mixtape with Questlove from The Roots, which gave you a different and much more unique insight into the album. This album is definitely worth the purchase, a great album.

Van Hunt – Use In Case Of Emergency (Rare Items From The Vault)

Van Hunt is just incredible, there I said it, I love this man and everything he does within music. I was very annoyed that his last studio album never saw the light of day, despite the fact that most people have heard it and it really is that good. So when he told his fans that he was all set to release an unreleased collection, I jumped for joy. It still baffles me that this guy remains so underrated within music, despite boasting bags of talent.

I honestly don’t think a lot needs to be said about this release, other than the fact you have certainly been missing out, if you don’t own this already. Well worth checking out.

Nate James – Revival

Nate James cannot do anything wrong for me, he is an amazing talent over here in the UK I’ve been a fan of since, well forever it seems. Even though this project is a cover album I was definitely impressed with it, it could be down to the fact that I adore this man and he can sing his way out of a wet chip bag, if he wanted to of course. But it has definitely been a bit of a wait since his last studio album a couple of years ago and I was eager to hear more from him, his take of ‘Because I Love You’ is great. Mind you, I like the entire album even if this was just to tide us fans over until his next studio album is released.

Talented Songwriter: JC Chasez

JC Chasez for those who do not know was a member of the boyband NSYNC, now before you all start wondering why it is I am posting about JC; then let me tell you.

JC just so happens to be a fantastic songwriter and has penned hits for many artists within music, I feel he doesn’t receive the full credit he deserves for his skills, yet he has penned some rather amazing songs within his career, whether they have been composed by himself or co-wrote with some other writer, he has delivered some rather nice lyrics, so much so, he deserves credit. I find him a lot more talented than his former bandmate Justin in the songwriting department.

Here is one of my favourite songs from JC’s very underrated debut album.

JC Chasez – Build My World

Finally Shining: Nneka

For those who do not know, as previously mentioned on this site, Nneka is a singer/songwriter born in Nigeria, who in her late teens relocated to Germany to pursue her dreams of singing. Since moving to Germany, Nneka has been doing her own thing within music taking influence from her younger days back home in Nigeria and picking up on new experiences she’s since had in Germany.

Well according to rumour, it seems that Nneka’s new album ‘Concrete Jungle’ will be surfacing this coming February. This is great news, especially as she is such a talented artist within music. Definitely a project worth checking out; there seems to be a few really great albums coming up and this one should be no different.

In the meantime, here are a couple of videos (which you have to click to view) of songs from Nneka to give you a little more insight into this very talented artist.

Nneka – The Uncomfortable Truth

Nneka – Walking

Under The Radar: Georgia Anne Muldrow

Georgia Anne Muldrow is an artist who should be well known, more than she is within music, but we know that’s not always how it works within the industry. Anyway, it seems she is back with a new video (which I am a little late posting), but still it’s better late than never at all and those of us who do know of this very talented individual will know that she always delivers something pretty amazing within music.

Anyway, the following video showcases just why this artist is worth keeping your attention focused on.

Georgia Anne Muldrow – Roses

Under The Radar: Rafiya

As previously mentioned, Rafiya is an artist who is obviously very talented and deserves more recognition within the industry for the talent she is within music. Her latest EP, ‘Amazing’, is a breath of fresh air within music and definitely showcases Rafiya as an artist to keep your attention focused on.

Rafiya has decided to release her new EP free to her fans, so no doubt it will reach out to many people who haven’t necessarily heard anything of this artist. This is certainly a project to check out and you can do so by clicking the link below the tracklist for the free download, you have definitely been missing out. This is a fantastic release from such a promising talent within music.

Upcoming Superstar: Andreya Triana

Having have heard so much about this very talented artist, she manages to sound like an artist who has been doing their thing for numerous years, with numerous album releases. So it’s very surprising to learn that she still has yet to release a full album, her debut (which has yet to be given a title) album, which is said to be due out next year.

The following video I am about to feature gives you a little more insight into this very talented individual, if you are interested in finding out more, then you can do so by clicking
here. Welcome to the soulful world of Andreya Triana, enjoy.

Andreya Triana – Lost Where I Belong

Artist Spotlight: Rafiya

Rafiya is a singer/songwriter who hails from Philadelphia (although born in Los Angeles), a place where a large amount of other talented individuals come from too. There certainly seems to be something in the water in Philadelphia in order for it to keep churning talented artists out left, right and centre.

Due to her father’s career, Rafiya was forced to travel a great deal while growing up and lived in a variety of places, including Congo; the Cape Verde Islands; Senegal; Barbados; Ivory Coast and other places. But it was in 2001 that she moved to Philadelphia to pursue her interest in studying. It was during this time that Rafiya also found herself appreciating different ways of life, absorbing the various cultures from local artists and giving strength to her own belief that she would day find herself pursuing a career in music.

Rafiya writes and sings in both French and English, but regardless of whichever language she chooses to sing in, her music translates itself beautifully and no doubt this artist will be around for a very long time to come.

On the other hand, here is her latest music video for you to check out. This should give those who do not know of this very talented artist a little more insight into her.

Rafiya – Amazing

INTERVIEW SPECIAL: Dr. Syleecia Thompson

Over the past number of months I have had the pleasure of featuring many interviews with a host of talented individuals within music and now it is time to take a slight different angle from an artist’s perspective, as I feature the following interview with Dr. Syleecia Thompson who is the author of, ‘Rhythm Without Blues: A Dichotomy Of A Music Genre’, a book that delves into how the industry has turned its back on many talented individuals within music.

Here is a short introduction to the equally gifted, Syleecia Thompson, who is a professor at Berkeley College; an author, music executive and professional speaker. She also works for Aneelys Records (Syleena Johnson’s record label) as the president. Alongside all of this, Syleecia has penned her very own book, ‘Rhythm Without Blues: A Dichotomy Of A Music Genre’, which discusses how R&B as a whole has changed over numerous years and the direction it is currently taking within the industry, how more talented artists are suffering as a result of the more commercial artists within the genre, etc. All in all, the book is a very interesting read and is definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. Syleecia also gains views from many artists within music, including her very own sister, Syleena Johnson, who I have interviewed previously on Sexy Never Left.

Below is the interview with the lady herself, followed by some links to look up Syleecia’s latest book and a couple of videos where she discusses over her theories more, all in all, a very interesting feature. Enjoy!

You have a book, ‘Rhythm Without Blues: The Dichotomy Of A Music Genre’, out at the moment. How would you describe your book to the people who haven’t yet read anything from you?

It is an in-depth discovery into the breakdown of Rhythm and Blues over the last 20 years. It includes interviews from R. Kelly; Syleena Johnson; Brownstone and many more. It also serves as a teaching tool for aspiring artists; musicians; industry executives and music lovers. It also uncovers the true magic of R&B and gives detailed solutions to labels. It’s about bringing to light the issues that affect R&B, the artists and music as a whole.

What are your thoughts on music as a whole?

I love music, all types of music. Today, I feel music is dying and suffering from the commercialism and labels driven by profit as opposed to artistry.

What can people who haven’t heard of your work expect from you as a writer?

Realism; truth; passion and hope.

You obviously have some close links with really talented individuals within music, what do you feel their take on music is when they hardly get a look in these days?

All of the artists I know are passionate about music and their jobs. That’s what pushes them, passion. Syleena Johnson (my sister) knows her worth and that her talent is great, so she keeps pushing by pure passion.

What influenced you writing this book? Why this subject?

Watching my sister over the years and seeing her struggles in the industry. Also, watching my father and his dealings with the music business, I have a passion for music and this was my research topic while working on my doctorate degree and it developed into a book.

What are your thoughts and feelings towards artists of today?

I think some of them need to get their act together! Some of them produce and put out music that is inappropriate and lacks skill.

Sexy Never Left believes in bringing real talent forward and giving them a chance to shine. Do you think talent gets a fair deal in music today?

No way, no how. I think the most talented people don’t get a chance. Now there are some talented artists out there, but the music industry is stuck in one way of thinking and one type of artistry. Most artists receiving the awards, profit and accolades today are the same ones every year over and over again. Once you are designated as the “IT” artist, then the industry supports you.

Which artists would you prefer to hear more of within music?

Syleena Johnson; Anthony Hamilton; Tamia; Lalah Hathaway; Joe and Kelly Price.

How do you feel real music is being accepted?

I don’t.

Who do you believe is to blame for the lack of substance within music?

Record labels; radio, Hip Hop and society.

Do you think record labels need to stop focusing on the money to be made and concentrate on the music put out?

They sign people as their product, so they should at least focus on artistry more.

How would you like the industry to change?

Bring artist development back, radio should support black music more, artists need to take responsibility over their music and piracy needs to be controlled.

Do you believe that music with more thought behind it will shine again?

Hopefully!

Are there any plans for you to promote your work overseas?

Yes, I would love to attend some book festivals overseas.

What are your thoughts on Japan who seem to welcome real talent with open arms?

I truly believe that although Rhythm and Blues started in America and is prominent in America, I believe other countries where R&B is not their main music it is admired more because they understand the value of it. They view it as something special. So, other nationalities respect R&B more because they understand the uniqueness of it.

Finally, is there anything else you would like to add to this interview which you feel hasn’t been addressed so far?

People should learn to fall back in love with Rhythm and Blues.

I would like to thank Dr. Syleecia Thompson for taking the time to answer the questions I asked and wish her the very best with all that she is doing, if you would like to read Syleecia’s book, ‘Rhythm Without Blues: The Dichotomy Of A Music Genre’, then you can do so by purchasing it here or here. Other than that, you can also view some videos of Syleecia discussing her theories by clicking here.

Still Going Strong: Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men have established themselves over the years as one of the best groups within R&B, whether you like an earlier song they had in the charts like ‘End Of The Road’ or you are more familiar with and like their more recent work, these guys certainly know how to sing and have done very well in establishing themselves within the business over the years.

With that said, they are currently back with their latest album, ‘Love’, which sees them taken on some great songs from over the years and placing their own spin on them. This is definitely something worth checking out, if you haven’t already. They also recently performed one of the songs taken from their latest release on American TV, for which you can view the performance below.

Boyz II Men – Iris (Live On The Jimmy Fallon Show)

Underrated: Jesse Boykins III

Jesse Boykins III is a talented artist with so much to offer, so it baffles me that he is still virtually unknown amongst many people. Obviously he does have his fanbase and a pretty strong one at that, but with the presence of over commercialised music a lot of real talent hardly seems to get a look in within the industry. It just seems a great shame that so much talent is slipping completely under the radar, while less talented people are being shown more love within music.

Anyway, Jesse has returned with a remix album of the fantastic ‘The Beauty Created’ and he definitely does not disappoint either, but the best thing about this release is that it is absolutely free, so no doubt it will reach out to people who may not have heard of this rather amazing artist or his music, so that has to be a great thing. Be sure to download the remix album below the artwork and tracklist and if you wish to find out more on Jesse, you can do so by clicking here.

She’s Done It All Again: Corinne Bailey Rae

This is one album I am eagerly anticipating in the new year; as Corinne Bailey Rae gears up for the release of her second album, ‘The Sea’. After releasing her amazing self titled debut album back in 2006. People are definitely hungry for this new material, as has been showcased by the sell out shows Corinne has done to help promote this upcoming masterpiece.

Anyway, here is Corinne’s new music video for the amazing first single to be taken from the album. Definitely worth the wait, welcome back Corinne, it’s like you were never away.

Christmas Is Almost Here: Andrea Bocelli & Mary J. Blige

With just over a week to go until Christmas Day, it’s nice to listen to something festive and especially when the song is something truly special.

Andrea Bocelli for those who somehow do not know is an Italian classical artist and a very talented one he is too, well for his Christmas album, ‘My Christmas’, that hasn’t long since been released he has teamed up with the equally talented Mary J. Blige for a rather amazing festive song. Their voices go so well together, it’s actually nice to hear something different, but it’s also nice to hear two totally different artists from completely different genres who vocally go so well together.

Anyway, I shall let you be the judge for yourself with the rather amazing collaboration below.

Andrea Bocelli – What Child Is This (feat. Mary J. Blige)

Lightening The Mood: The Muppets

Now you’re probably wondering why I’m posting this? Well, most of us at some point grew up watching The Muppets and seeing as this video is doing the rounds at the moment, I thought I’d lighten the mood on the site and post something a little humorous for a change and with it almost being Christmas, it’s time for a little fun.

This song has been released over here and although I’d love this to be Christmas number one here, it won’t be as the X Factor winner always takes that position and it shouldn’t be any different this year, although they do have competition in the form of Rage Against The Machine, a candidate that people who despise X Factor have placed forward to break the control the show has over the Christmas charts.

Anyway, to lighten the mood on the site, here is The Muppets rather funny interpretation of a Queen classic.

The Muppets – Bohemian Rhapsody

Something Special: Jaspects

The Jaspects are a group that fuse a whole variety of genres together to create their very own unique sound, a sound that oozes elements of Jazz, Soul, etc giving them their own place within music and therefore making them different from anyone else within the industry.

So it must come as no surprise really to know that these guys are formally trained Jazz students at the Morehouse College and their aim is to produce music that involves freedom of expression with their blend of musical and lyrical creativity. This is certainly a group you must get to know and if you do not know who they are, then boy have you been missing out on some amazing music.

If you like what you hear, then you should be pleased to know that their latest album, ‘The Polkadotted Stripe’, is out now and can be purchased from here and if you wish to hear and find out more from this amazing group, then you can do so by also clicking here.

In the meantime, here is the rather amazing song they have done with one of my favourite artists within music at the moment, Janelle Monae.

Jaspects – 2012 (feat. Janelle Monae)

Underrated: Vikter Duplaix

Vikter Duplaix is a singer/songwriter from Philadelphia, amongst many other things, and a very talented one he is too. It seems a great shame that he’s hardly as well known as many other individuals within music, yet boasts just as much talent. Still, do not let that put you off if you have been living under a rock for numerous years, Vikter is definitely an artist worth checking out and boasts a very impressive list when it comes to other artists he has worked with, including Musiq Soulchild; Jill Scott; Erykah Badu; The Roots; Vivian Green; amongst a whole host of others.

This is definitely an artist worthy of more love within music, it’s such a shame that his name isn’t heard more of within the industry. Such an underrated talent, yet he has so much to offer music. His latest song, ‘Electric Love’, which I’m featuring boasts that soul that a lot of music in the spotlight today lacks. This is such an amazing song, one definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t already.

If you like what you hear, it can be downloaded for free at his official website, you can also hear and find out more by clicking here.

Still Influencing Artists: Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige is an artist who has been within the industry for quite some time now, over fifteen years to be exact, In that time she has pretty much established herself as a force within music and the true Queen of Hip Hop Soul.

Here is a mixtape courtesy of
SoulBounce who show you just why Mary is so special within music and why it is that she continues to shine as much as she does. The following mixtape chronicles, ‘My Life’, the breakthrough album for Mary and one that definitely showcased her as the talent she is within music, highlighting how she became such a beacon of light for both men and women, so much so that ‘Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life’ offers a new perspective from a whole host of male artists within music, including the likes of: Eric Roberson; Jesse Boykins III; Darien and many others.

This free mixtape can be downloaded by clicking the link below the artwork that is also provided. Be sure to thank the kind people at SoulBounce.

Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life

Talented: Rissi Palmer

Now I posted this song a while ago and I stated back then that I am not a big fan of Country music, but this artist has done a lovely version of the hit song that Jordin Sparks did with Chris Brown, ‘No Air’. There’s just something really nice about how she sings this song, it definitely gives the song a whole new dimension.

Here is the music video to give you more of an insight into this artist and her amazing version of this song.

Rissi Palmer – No Air

10 Dec 2009

Underrated: Jamie Scott & The Town

The frontman of this group had a stint in the charts a few years ago and even though his voice is amazing, he is just so soulful. He not only brings an edgier style of music, he can really sing the songs he sets out to sing and has made a few covers that he did recently sound as though they were originally by him, which is something in itself. He proved to be very underrated a few years back in his solo effort, needless to say he came back as the frontman of this group and he really hasn't lost the talent that he had back in 2004, I think it was. He is still very underrated, it would be great if this guy could get the success within the industry that he deserves, as he's definitely worked hard for it and there is a lot of talent there. This group bring a little something extra to music.

Here’s one of their videos to give you an insight into what they are all about. The lead vocalist, Jamie Scott, has such an amazing voice; I’ve been a fan of him for a long time.

Jamie Scott & The Town – Weeping Willow

She’s Back & Showing How It’s Done: Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige is a real talent within music who has been doing her thing for numerous years now, over fifteen years to be exact. With all of that said, she is back with a new album out very soon that is said to be titled, ‘Stronger With Each Tear’. A great name for an album and no doubt it will be a great album; Mary is one of those artists who always seems to deliver in whatever she does, so the new album should be very interesting to hear.

In the meantime, here is her latest music video for you to check out.

Amazing: Roxette

Roxette for those who do not know (unbelievably) who this group are, they are a Swedish group and fantastic they are too. They have been doing their thing within music for well over twenty years and have picked many fans up along the way. Marie has such a lovely voice and most people will know this group for singing the well known classic for the film, ‘Pretty Woman’.

This group were a very big part of growing up for me, I was very young and their music was always being played at some point. The lyrical content in this following song just caught my imagination, being a writer myself, it isn’t any surprise. I seem to pay a lot of attention to lyrics within music these days. This song is just beautiful, check it out.

Roxette – Queen Of Rain

Cover Alert: Corinne Bailey Rae

Corinne Bailey Rae happens to be one of my favourite artists, not only did she have one of the best debut albums in a very long time, but she also boasts bags of talent to go with it. With all of that said, Corinne is back this coming February with her follow up album and going by all that I’ve heard so far in the form of a couple of songs, it is shaping up to be just as amazing as her debut, which comes as no surprise from a very talented individual who consistently delivers, whether it’s her album material or bonus material (she has given us plenty of that).

‘The Sea’ is one album I am eagerly anticipating within the coming new year, not just because I am hungry to hear new material from one of my favourite artists, but also because you know that it will be something special within music. Corinne is someone who always manages to put everything she has and more into her work and that’s perhaps what makes her music so incredible when listening to it. I’m definitely excited for this album.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on the rather amazing album artwork.

He’s Still Got It: George Michael

It’s been a while since George Michael officially released a Christmas song, I don’t think there’s been one since he did Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’, which I’m not much of a fan of.

Anyway, with that said, he treated his fans to this magical slice of Christmas last year and this year, it seems it’s getting its very own release in around a week or so and I am very happy about it. ‘December Song (I Dreamed Of Christmas)’ is just amazing and shows exactly why George remains one of the most talented people within music. The video adds another magical element to the song, giving the entire song a new dimension with an animated interpretation and should place itself on the register as one of those magical songs at this time of year.

Hopefully this song can be somewhere high in the charts this Christmas, especially as the X Factor seems to claim the charts at this time as well. It’s ruined the feel of anticipating what will be Christmas number one here, as we know that the winning product of the X Factor will rocket to the top of the charts, before the winner has even been announced. If only Christmas number one was actually a Christmas song, now there’s something to think about.

On another note, here is the rather amazing video to George Michael’s latest Christmas song.

THE SITE IS TAKING A SHORT BREAK!

I just thought that I'd let you know that the site will be taking a short break while I have some things to do and will be back up and running next week, with more features on many talented artists within music.

Until then, have a lovely week.

Under The Radar: Syleena Johnson

Syleena Johnson is a talent within music who continues to be very underrated within the industry, yet this year saw the release of her incredible album, ‘Chapter 4: Labor Pains’, which is easily one of the best releases this year. So it’s hard to understand why she remains so underrated within music, especially when she is an artist who consistently delivers amazing album after amazing album.

I would definitely recommend Syleena’s albums to anyone who hasn’t yet heard of this amazing artist.

In the meantime, here are a couple videos from Syleena for you to check out that should show you exactly why this artist deserves so much more love in the industry.
