Promising International Career: Guy Sebastian

Guy Sebastian is a talented artist I’ve mentioned on this site quite a number of times before and he is definitely someone you should be keeping your attention on. Having previously released great album after great album, he is all set to release his new album in the USA and the first single is said to be the title track from his upcoming project, ‘Like It Like That’. The digital release for the first single is at the end of this month and will then see a physical release next month. Meanwhile it is also said that Guy will have another album out in his homeland of Australia, this will be his fifth album over there and is said to include the original songs from the upcoming USA project. This will be great, Guy Sebastian has been a name on peoples lips for quite a while now, some people have had to rely on imports, so it’s great that he is finally getting the opportunity to make a name for himself in the USA.

He should definitely do a few gigs over here in the UK, that would also be great. Hopefully there will be a lot bigger things to come with this artist, he certainly has the goods to be huge within music.

Here is his latest video for you to take a look at.

Despite having a really cool name, Bluey Robinson should be huge within music sometime in the future, he has been doing his own thing within music for quite some time now and some may have come across his talent already, others may not have. Moving Onto Bigger Things: Beverley Knight

Beverley Knight is a talent within British music who everyone should know of, she remains an artist who has consistently delivered amazing album after amazing album with limited success. This artist should definitely be a lot bigger within the industry for sure and having left her last label, who didn’t seem to appreciate her talent, she can now move onto bigger and better things. Having been in the music industry for well over a decade Beverley can shine like the star she is, her new album is sounding great and is due out later this year.

In the meantime, here is a behind the scenes look at her new music video, as well as the finished video itself. For those who do not know, Beverley also did an amazing version of this song on Radio 2 recently.

Beverley Knight – Beautiful Night

Underrated: Ledisi

Ledisi is an artist who everyone should know of, having been in the industry for quite some time now. With that said, Ledisi is all set to release her new album in August of this year and it is sounding like a great album. People who already know of her music will not be surprised, as she has consistently delivered great material within her career and this new project looks like it will be no different, she is definitely taking a step in the right direction with her music. There is a website where you can listen to two tracks each week, up until the album is released next month. Needless to say, this album is going to be great and should definitely be worth checking out.

Doing Her Own Thing: Melanie Fiona

A lot has already been posted on this artist on this site, as you can probably tell I’m a fan of what she’s doing within music. This artist really is someone to watch out for, if you don’t already know, she should be huge within music.

Take A Trip Into A Fantasy World

Some people may recognise the tune behind this song as the one from the Coca Cola adverts over here. If you don’t already know, the song features a host of artists from music, including the very talented Janelle Monae. It’s nice to see Janelle Monáe on something else, as she’s is an incredibly talented and very underrated artist. Hopefully there will be bigger things to come from Janelle Monáe, she certainly has the potential to be a lot bigger within the industry.

Come A Long Way: Chrisette Michele

Chrisette Michele released one of the best albums this year with her second effort, although the quality of material is nowhere near that on her debut album, it is still a great album nonetheless and definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t already. Chrisette is an artist who has continuously delivered the goods within music, since she burst onto the scene a while ago now. Her last album was definitely very underrated, but it seems that her latest offering seems to be making up for the fact that her debut album was overlooked. Hopefully the fact that people are buying into this artists work now will encourage those same people to check out her first album, they have certainly been missing out on some quality music that’s for sure.

Chrisette Michele – What You Do (feat. Ne-Yo)

The Queen Is Back: Whitney Houston

Pictures of Whitney have been doing the rounds from her recent appearance in London and she looked really well, it’s great to see such a talented artist looking good, especially after publicly going through some turbulent times and of course, Whitney has gone through a lot of those. After ditching the troubles of her past, Whitney is back and is all set to release her long awaited album this coming September. Her album, ‘I Look To You’, will definitely be worth checking out.

In the meantime, the cover to the album has surfaced and Whitney is looking great on it. I think most people will be happy that the she is back with a new project, after what seems like such a long time.

In His Own League: Raphael Saadiq

Raphael Saadiq is a name which everyone should know within music, not only is this guy incredibly gifted when it comes to delivering quality music, but he also delivered one of the best albums of last year with his amazing album, ‘The Way I See It’. If you haven’t checked out his latest album, then you are definitely missing out on a quality album here. The album was obviously influenced by music from the 1960’s and the music video’s have taken the same style tips too, definitely a project worth every penny.

A new video has surfaced which definitely showcases why Raphael remains one of the best artists within music, check it out.

For those who do know of this amazing album being out, you will have probably already bought it by now and know that it has to be one of the best albums released this year, one of the most eagerly awaited releases anyway. ‘Pretty Wings’ pretty much sold the album to me, the song has been my favourite since I heard the snippet a while back, for ages I was waiting for the full version and then we finally got the video and wow, Maxwell definitely delivered the goods that we so needed back in music, he has been missed.

Here is a performance of the amazing ‘Pretty Wings’ that Maxwell recently did on TV in the USA. Thanks to Jennifer for the heads up on this amazing performance.

His Memory Remains: Michael Jackson

Yesterday was Michael Jackson’s public memorial and it proved difficult for many people to hold back their sadness of Michael being taken long before his time, the whole memorial was great and brought together a variety of people who Michael had connected with on some level throughout his life, the most poignant tributes of the night came from not only Michael’s family. Michael’s daughter, Paris, who put on a brave face with her siblings in her attempt to pay tribute to her father, broke down in tears. I’m sure everyone who was watching at that point cried even more. Michael was very proud of his children and now we can see why, they are absolutely adorable.

A whole host of performances were delivered on the day from the likes of John Mayer, Usher (who broke down in tears), Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, amongst many other wonderful names.

The whole event from yesterday was very emotional, so I shall let a few video’s of the event do the talking and highlight what a wonderful talent Michael Jackson truly was, his memory will forever live on. R.I.P, Michael. Gone, but definitely never forgotten. We will always remember you and your contributions to music.

In Remembrance: July 7th 2005

As most people will already know, today here in the UK is a very important day – as is September 11th in the USA. Back on July 7th 2005 terrorists ripped through London with a series of attacks on innocent people. A lot of people were very left injured and suffered physical scars, alongside obvious mental scars. But 52 people sadly weren’t so lucky to survive the attacks, still to this very day their memories remain. Today in the UK a special memorial service took place in Hyde Park in London, where a lasting tribute to the victims was unveiled. Prince Charles was there to pay tribute to those who were taken on that day, as well many other people - most importantly the families of people affected on this day four years ago were there to pay tribute and honour those who tragically didn't survive.

The memorial consists of 52 steel pillars all engraved with the date of the attacks, the time it took place and the location in London where the attack took place. Each steel pillar symbolises one of the victims taken upon that day four years ago, as well as a plaque with the names of each victim upon it.

Most people remember where they were when events unfolded back then and to this very day, it is still very hard to imagine that people could actually cause such devastation.

This post pays tribute to everyone who was affected on this very day four years ago, as well the families of those who were tragically lost.

Remembering: Michael Jackson

It truly is hard to understand that Michael Jackson has been taken from us, even now. I don’t think people will ever begin to come to terms with this loss, he meant so much to music and a lot of people would be lying if they said they weren’t influenced in some way by his music and presence within music. He really had that much of an impact, so I will keep this post short and sweet. R.I.P. Michael, you are a talent gone too soon – but we will never allow for you to be forgotten. For me, it was like the world has been in slow motion since we heard the news.

Today, Michael’s public memorial will be taking place in Los Angeles, where endless fans are crowding to say their final goodbyes. A lot of fans will also be paying tribute to the King of Pop in various other countries around the world.

Here is a video of Usher remembering his idol, Michael Jackson. You can definitely hear the sadness in his voice, such a sad moment in music, as well as a sad moment for every fan of his around the world.

Future Stars: Indigo Brown

I’m surprised a lot hasn’t been posted on these girls already here, as I’ve been a fan of them for a while now.

But for those who still do not know who these girls are, here is a bit of information on them for you. Indigo Brown are a British duo who have often been compared to another British duo, Floetry. But it’s time to state that these girls definitely bring their own thing to the pot and ok, there will be comparisons, but they are not trying to emulate Floetry’s style or anything, they are doing their own thing. These girls are definitely worth keeping your eyes on.

Here is a video of them addressing the comparisons which they receive to Floetry, followed by a live performance that they recently did, which should give you a little insight into how promising their music is.

Indigo Brown – Dear Diary (Live)

Legend: George Harrison

With his greatest hits CD not long since released, this is a very fitting post to a member of the legendary Beatles and a very underrated songwriter, writing so many great hits within his career as a member of one of the most famous British groups and as a solo artist afterwards. George Harrison’s music will live on always.

Here is one of his hits, one of my favourites too. This could have easily been a Beatles hit as well.
