Incredible: Maxwell

Maxwell is looking really good these days and his new song ‘Pretty Wings’ is just incredible. Finally his album is coming to stores near you within the next couple or so months, after what feels like decades of waiting for fans out there. So on that note, I will keep this post simple.

As said in the previous Maxwell post, this song is beautiful. So finally, as the video for this truly amazing song has surfaced (thanks to Jennifer’s site for the heads up). Feast your eyes on this.

Amazing Voice: Daniel Merriweather

The album was previously listed as being release around about now, but it has been put back until June of this year. This guy has an amazing voice and is definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t already. He is an artist who has been showing potential for numerous years and hopefully, many more to come.

Excitement: Maxwell

Maxwell certainly knows how to keep fans of his art on their toes, he’s been talking of his upcoming albums for quite some time now and finally, something is materialising for the fans to check out, after months of waiting for a date to be set and years waiting for the follow up to his last album. But as the saying goes, all good things come to those who wait. That is so true. Maxwell’s album is due out on July 7th, so ink that date on your calendar as it truly is a release to check out.

If you cannot possibly wait that long without a little bit of Maxwell to lighten up your day, then here is the first single from the album to check out. This song is beautiful.

Britain’s Got Talent: Diversity

Another week goes by in the auditions being shown on TV and more talent go through, one of the talented acts including another dance group, Diversity. These guys are really good, they’re definitely up there with Flawless (the group I mentioned on here before). The guys from Saturday's show just might have the edge over Flawless, their routine was incredibly creative and included one of the younger members somersaulting across the stage after appearing from a bag. I do like both dance acts though, it would be great to see both acts performing in the live shows. Diversity are up there in the best so far, along with Flawless, Susan, Shaheen and ten year old Hollie Steel, who stunned the judges with her amazing voice. This year is proving amazing for talent.

In the meantime, check out Diversity’s amazing audition by clicking the link below.

Talented: Chrisette Michele

As previously mentioned, Chrisette Michele is gearing up for the release of her eagerly awaited second album, ‘Epiphany’, which hits stores on May 5th for those that do not already know. Until that date, Chrisette is counting down to the release with a series of videos. This is definitely one album that you have to check out, her debut album was seriously overlooked within music and yet, she delivered one of the best projects of that year. This upcoming album should be worth every penny.

Here are a couple of new promotional videos that have been posted.

Star: Guy Sebastian

Guy Sebastian is an artist who everyone should know of, having won Australian Idol a few years back he has since gone on to showcase himself as an incredible talent within music, penning amazing song after amazing song. With four albums under his belt; one of them a covers album that pays homage to some of the big Soul tracks from over the years. Guy has continuously showcased himself as someone to seriously watch out for. Now stepping out in the USA after drawing in plenty of viewers to his work from over the pond amongst other destinations, Guy is planning to release his very first album in the USA, which will apparently be titled ‘Like It Like That’. No doubt this album will be just as impressive as his others. I have three clips of songs that are said to be from the upcoming project, which is rumoured to be hitting stores in the Summer. They are posted below for you to check out, as well as an interview that he did with American Idol's, Randy Jackson. Other than that, if you would like more information on Guy, then you can visit his Myspace, his official USA website or his official Australian website.

Underrated: Nate James

Now this is one artist that is truly underrated within the British music scene, you mention his name and hardly anyone knows who he is. But he is definitely doing his thing within the industry over here, with two albums, an EP and various singles under his belt, this guy is definitely setting the tone within British Soul music. His lyrics are great, his style is funky and fresh, but most of all, his music is just so real, so unique.

This guy could create magic with anything that he touches, he is a star and the fact that he is still underrated within the industry is shocking, not only because of his talent, but because his music is just so different, so individual. Welcome to the world of Nate James, this is definitely an artist with a lot to offer.

In the meantime, here is a mash up of ABC’s ‘Poisoned Arrow’ and Nate’s ‘High Times’ to get your teeth into, closely followed by his latest music video of a song from his recent covers album.

Congratulations: A Baby Boy For Jill

Sexy Never Left would like to congratulate Jill Scott and her partner on the birth of their first child together; apparently Jill (who happens to be one of my favourite artists) gave birth on Monday at around 4:20pm to a baby boy weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces. The little bundle of joy who Jill thought she could never have has been named Jett Hamilton Roberts. What a beautiful name, maybe he will grow up to be just as talented as his mum who has been wowing audiences with her portrayal of Mma Ramotswe in the hit series, ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency’. The series has just finished this past weekend here in the UK, hopefully the BBC will bring it back for a second series. Jill will be a fantastic mum; I wish her and her family all of the very best.

Hummimgbird: Tweet

Tweet is someone who has been consistently showcasing herself as a true star for numerous years now, her upcoming album ‘Love, Tweet’ has been put on hold on numerous occasions since over a year ago. So it would be nice if some new material was to come from this amazingly talented artist. We all know that an album from this very talented lady is long overdue, but we also know that when it does arrive in stores, it will be worth every penny.

In the meantime, here is a video of Tweet with her daughter talking of what she is up to, including her next album.

Tweet – Updating The Fans

Artwork Is Where It’s At

Jennifer’s site, ‘Adventures Of An Audio Diva’, reminded me how a front cover for an album can pull you into buying an album you’re unsure of. Quite a few artists have delivered albums with a cover that interests you, therefore I have bought the album and been pleasantly surprised at how good they are, Leela James being one of those artists back when she released her debut album. I hadn’t heard of her or her music and by chance came across her album in HMV; I was intrigued by the cover for the album and bought it. Needless to say, it was definitely a great purchase and I have been a fan of the artist ever since. Thinking about this very subject, there have been a number of covers for albums that have caught my eye. Recently one of those has been the cover for Prince’s, ‘MPLSOUND’. Amazingly eye-catching; colourful; but most of all he is an artist that delivers the goods. So you just know that it will be something spectacular. It’s amazing how artwork can sell something, I could be here all day listing albums with intriguing front covers. But I shall let you have a look at the artwork from the legend that is, Prince.

Talented: Jazmine Sullivan

Back when hardly anyone had heard of the talent that is, Jazmine Sullivan, she was quietly doing her thing within music. Picking many fans up along the way with her soulful vocals, amazing songs that really showcased her potential as an artist, people were beginning to take notice of this artist. So when people heard that she was to release her debut album (which hit shelves last year), they were naturally excited. Along came the album and a great album it is too, but it doesn’t showcase this artist as the star she is like her material from way before her debut.

So on that note, here is a playlist of most of her material from way before her debut album. This could easily be placed onto an album of its own and distributed to the masses of music fans out there.

Jazmine Sullivan – Always Have Jazmine (Playlist)

Britain’s Got Talent: Flawless

The new series of Britain’s Got Talent is already in it’s second week and already one person in the competition is being heavily talked about everywhere, with millions of people tuning into Youtube to see her, Susan Boyle has already made a name for herself. It is already being said that she could win this series. Also one to watch is Shaheen, a twelve year old boy, who stunned the judges with his rendition of ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’. He got a standing ovation from the auditions audience, stunned the judges, as well as presenters Ant & Dec. Flawless are also an act to watch out for, a group of dancers from here in the UK who proved that they had exactly what it takes to go further in the competion. They performed a routine that left you wanting more, this group are amazing and definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t already.

If you want to see Flawless doing what they do best, then click the link below for a video of their audition.

Soulful: Lowrider

Lowrider were formed in Australia back in 2004, where they shrugged off expected career choices in favour of following their love for music. Since then, Lowrider have moved on trying to establish themselves as a true talent within music and they have done just that, performing on many a stage within their home of Australia, picking up many fans along the way. One of their biggest achievements so far has been supporting Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys on both of their Australian tours, which picked up more fans along the way for the guys. Their album, ‘Diamond Amongst The Thieves’, is definitely worth checking out. If you like your music a little edgy, then you should like this group. A lot of soulful acts seem to be coming from Australia with Guy Sebastian; Paulini, etc.

Here is one of their songs from their self titled previous album, which should give you a little more insight into this incredible group.

Lowrider – Inspire Me

Chrisette Michele is gearing up for the release of her eagerly awaited second album, which is due to hit stores at the beginning of next month. This is definitely one album to check out, as previously mentioned on the site her debut release was seriously underrated and the new project is sounding pretty good, so it’s definitely something worth buying upon release. It seems that Chrisette is doing a countdown with video’s for her album, so if you need another reason to check the album out, listen to the lady herself.

Incredible Talent: Amy Winehouse

Here is a trip down memory lane for all of you music fans out there, back to when Amy Winehouse was virtually unknown within music and way before the media flocked around her waiting for something to publish in their newspapers. This was the Amy Winehouse that showcased herself as a true talent within music, with distinctive vocals and some really amazing lyrics, this artist had her sound on lock. This is what music was about, this girl has bags of talent, her next album should be just as good as her last as she certainly knows how to write some incredible music. If you take the focus away from her personal life and all that the media reports, keeping the focus purely on her capabilities within music, you'll see just how amazing this talent truly is.

Here is a little something from her debut album, this song is great.

Amy Winehouse – In My Bed

Underrated: Natalie Williams

For all of those that have never heard of this artist, where have you been hiding all of this time? This is one truly underrated talent here in the UK, someone who has consistently delivered amazing track after amazing track, her album ‘Secret Garden’ truly is a great album worth checking out. It’s beyond belief how many talented artists completely slip off the radar, needless to say this girl sings like a humming bird, has the capabilities and potential to deliver more great albums in her career. This is certainly one artist you have to check out.

Incredible: Scott Matthews

British singer/songwriter Scott Matthews released his first album a couple of years ago and picked up a pretty good following with his music, his amazing song ‘Elusive’ received a lot of airplay from the likes of Jo Whiley, etc on Radio 1. Scott lists artists such as The Beatles; Bob Dylan; amongst others as his influences. He is said to be currently working on his follow up album. ‘Elusive’ is such a beautifully written song and should be heard at least once by everyone.

Here is the video for that very song. Check it out.

Scott Matthews – Elusive

Best Kept Secret: Carol Riddick

Carol Riddick is widely considered as one of Soul music’s best kept secrets, born and raised in Philadelphia, music has always played a big part in Carol’s life and it shows. She is an amazingly soulful artist, it remains a mystery why she isn’t as widely known as many other performers within the industry. Still it’s refreshing to find a talent that has exactly what music needs, a fresh sound. This should come as no surprise seeing some of the artists this lady has working with, including Jill Scott; Anthony Hamilton; Musiq Soulchild; amongst many others. She provided her soulful vocals to Musiq Soulchild’s song, ‘Soulstar’.

She has since moved onto release her very own album, which is definitely worth checking out. It was an album that was virtually overlooked, which comes as a surprise considering how amazing gifted this artist is. She has so much to offer music.

Here is one of the songs taken from her album, which should give you a little more insight into this incredible talent.

Carol Riddick – You Better Not Hurt Me

Inspiring: Jill Scott Is Made Of Strong Stuff

If you haven’t already seen parts of this series of ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency’, then wow you are definitely missing out on some great television. This is certainly one of the best pieces of television to hot the screens here in the UK for quite some time and having not read the books, I find myself being drawn into the simplicity of it all, the show is made even better with the picturesque views of Africa, which is a lovely part of the world and brings something a little different to television. Jill Scott is amazing in her role as Mma Ramotswe; it’s hard to imagine anyone else being in this role as Jill acts out each scene with such passion and ease. Definitely a very underrated actress, she’s someone who deserves a lot more recognition for her roles onscreen, maybe a much bigger role in a movie should come this ladies way. All in all, a great series with a great cast. It’s definitely something you should watch, if you have the chance. Let’s hope that the BBC here in the UK bring this amazing series back for another series, until then, the fourth episode of this series will be show this weekend.

Here is a trailer of the series to give you more of an insight into how incredible Jill Scott is in this role.

The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency Trailer

Promising Future: Kyra Simone

British artist, Kyra Simone, is a talent that everyone should be hearing of, born into a large family of musical talents, both of her parents were heavily involved in music. It was this that gave this amazing talent a head start in music and at the age of six years old, while most children would be playing with their toys, Kyra was perfecting her gift and recorded her first recording. After many years of working on various other projects since then, she is again making a name for herself in music. This is certainly one artist to keep a close eye on, the UK is proving to be the place for great talent at the moment.

In the meantime, here is one of her songs for you to check out.

Kyra Simone – Cup Of Coffee

One To Watch: Shèna

Shèna is certainly a British artist to watch out for within music, she is already an artist who has made an impact within the charts lending her vocals to hits like Michael Gray’s, The Weekend. She has also worked vocally with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Joss Stone, amongst many others. Now with her experience in that department done and dusted, she is very much stepping out into the limelight on her own to absorb some well deserved credit within the industry. Shèna’s debut album, ‘One Man Woman’, is said to be due out around June time and it’s certainly something to look out for. After delivering songs for other artists and making them look good within the industry, Shèna is stepping out on her own and is an artist whose name should be on everybody’s lips.

In the meantime, here is the video for her new single which should give you a little more insight into how incredible this artist actually is.

Shèna – Can’t Stop The Rain

Memory Lane: Playa

All R&B fans out there should know exactly who the group Playa were in music, unfortunately Static Major one of the members of this talented group (who were seriously underrated) was tragically taken from us last year. He was a very talented artist indeed and his memory still lives on.

For those who don’t have any clue who this group were, here is one of their songs for you to check out. This should be a trip down memory lane for a lot of music fans out there.

Playa – Cheers 2 U

Underrated: Ginuwine

As a lot of people may already know, Ginuwine is releasing his long awaited new album in this coming June and I for one cannot wait, not only is he gorgeous but he is also very underrated within music. It would be great to see him collaborate with Timbaland again, but on something special. You will already know that they have worked together before on Ginuwine’s debut which was unbelievably released over a decade ago and even though he’s had pretty limited success within the industry, it would be nice to see this talent recognized on a much wider scale. He has had a large amount of amazing songs over the years, it would be nice to see a little more success go along with it.

In the meantime, here is his new video for you to feast your eyes on.

Ginuwine – Last Chance
