Underrated: Res

Res is a very underrated talent within music who released her debut album, ‘How I Do’, back in 2001 to a limited reception from the public; which was mainly down to her label barely promoting her and the wrong songs being chosen for singles. All in all though, Res’ debut album was amazing and should have definitely opened many a door for this very talented artist within the industry.

The story of labels not putting enough into an artist is very familiar and occurs even today with many very talented artists within music, which hardly seems fair based upon the fact there’s a whole hoard of very talented artists doing their thing within the industry with limited label support, who’re basically not willing to put their money into showcasing the talent that they signed.

Anyway, nowadays Res is working on Idle Warship, a group she is a part of along with the likes of Talib Kweli and Graph Nobel. Hopefully another album will come from Res herself, she delivered the goods with her debut, it would be great to see her back with another album.

In the meantime, here are a couple of songs from Res which should definitely give you a little more insight into this incredibly talented artist, if you don’t know of her already.
