Corneille is a singer/songwriter who was born in Germany to Rwandan parents, although he does hold a Canadian passport. He is an artist who sings both in French and English, influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder; Prince; Marvin Gaye; etc. Discovering his passion for music around the time of 1993, Corneille went on to join an R&B group, who won the Découverte 1993 competition and it was this that introduced him to songwriting.
In 1997, Corneille left his familiar surroundings to pursue his studies in Canada and it was during this time that he founded O.N.E. – an R&B group, with Pierre Gage and Martin Gardy. These were people he had met not long after arriving in Canada. At the beginning of 2001, Corneille left the group to pursue his solo interests and it is from here that his music began to take off.
In 2007, Corneille released his first English album, ‘The Birth Of Corneilius’ and it is this album that really showcases this artist as someone to watch out for within music. If there’s an album you should check out within music, this is it.
Here is a song of his for you to check out, which should give you more of an insight into this amazing talent.
