I know this is only a certain minorities opinion, but the fact that one of the best albums of the past ten years in the UK (Craig David’s ‘Born To Do It’) was in the list for ’50 Worst Albums Of The 2000’s’ was in the list, it kind of raised the question what should be in this list? There are certainly a lot of candidates for the worst album’s category.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I am certainly not a fan of what Craig is putting out in music at the moment and I really didn’t rate his last album. But no one can ever say that ‘Born To Do It’ was a bad album, when it practically paved the way over recent years for many artists and definitely made a star of Craig. His debut album set a standard within music.
I do definitely agree with the majority of albums in the list, but there would certainly be some other names added to it and certainly names of albums that were most definitely overhyped at the time, whether they’re recent or within the ten year timeline allowed. I do agree with the latest album from Queen being in the list especially, no one could ever replace Freddie Mercury. Freddie was and always will be a legend within music and no amount of new albums could ever replace someone who, in my opinion, is irreplaceable within the group. But, I do agree on the entry of Black Eyed Pea’s latest album. I know it has been hugely successful within the charts recently, but, I don’t think the group are as good as they used to be numerous years ago. The best example was when they released their earliest work and one of their best songs, in my opinion, is the collaboration they did with Macy Gray, ‘Request Line’. Now they seem to be more commercialised.
So the question is; if you could compile your own list of some of the worst albums over the past ten years, what would they be?
