As most of you will know who Beverley Knight is already, I don’t feel I have to introduce you to one of the UK’s best talents. Having not long since released her latest album, ‘100%’, which in my opinion is an incredible album and even though I have mentioned that I did adore ‘Music City Soul’, the latest is definitely very good and worth every penny spent on it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn’t yet purchased this album.
In the meantime, here is a recent performance which Beverley did here in the UK.

Nate James & Beverley Knight singing I Knew You Were Waiting For Me!!
Thee 2 need to get in the studio together and do a duet it, 2 of britains finest!
I completely agree, they need to work together in the studio for real.
I'm going to do a feature on them, two of my favourite British artists.
Well they are my 2 favourite I think! Nate James is my favourite British male artist and Bev female - 2 superb talents. Another British male artist I like is Craig David but even though his first album was great, from therein his music became a bit too mainstream and non-distinctive which is a shame. That's a probem with many artists though, they have to constantly adapt and change their sound to meet the record labels criteria until they end up being indistinguishable from the droves of other crap out there. That's why I love nate so much more because his material his so great and as well with Bev, since she has gone solo with her record label, she has gotten a little bit of her edge back.
The future of ensuring great British music still gets made is talented artists doing their own thing on their own labels because the industry has slowly destroyed real music, unless of course you're mega famous AND talented, then you have the clout to pull some strings.
I completely agree with everything that you said.
That's one of the reasons I love Nate as well, he's just so individual. A lot of artists are giving in to record labels demands and turning their sound into something completely unrecognisable. I like Terri Walker too, but she got screwed by her label, which sucks. She has so much to offer music.
I like Craig too, but have not liked his last two albums as much as his first and second.
Ah yeah you can't be messin' with Terri Walker, I LOVE her voice so much. Such a distinctive voice, she's like a slightly more relevant Bev so it's a terrible shame she doesn't get recognition like Bev. She's just got that really funky soul sound to her voice which you don't really get in Britain.
Straight up, my favourite artists right now are:
Ledisi, Eryka Badu, Beverley Knight, Teri Walker, Nate James, India Arie, Angie Stone and Chrisette Michelle.
All brilliant artists staying true to the art and making brilliant music but most importantly artists that aren't nowhere near as recognisable as they should be.
I completely agree with all you said.
I'd add Jill Scott to the list as well though, she's one of my favourite artists.
Real artists like those that were mentioned need more love within the industry for real, they're nowhere near as big as they should be. That's the kind of music that should be taking centre focus, definitely.
Yea they were just some that I listed. I'd definitely add Jill Scott too!! Want to add Mica Paris because she has one heck of a voice to but I'm not feeling her latest album at all really but the live version of Summertime is definitely a treat on that album.
These here are the very artists that she be getting awards at the MOBO awards. JLS getting 2 awards on the back of 1 mimed song and the reality factor is ridiculous. Alexandra Burke looked smoking though, I don't mind that she came from realiy tv because she has a soulful voice to back it up, lets just hope that the rest of the album isn't anything like Bad Boys, thats a nasty song.
Well, it has been very enlightening talking to you, you sure do know ur good music! Keep on reppin the talent, ur doing an amazing job!
Well, thanlyou very much. I appreciate the comments and please, keep posting your opinions, would love to hear more on what you think in future posts.
I agree, I like Mica Paris too, prefer her older stuff though. I cannot tolerate JLS, how they won those awards off the back of one silly single is beyond me. Now, Alexandra's album should be very promising. I hope there's some decent material on there, cos she really does have potential.
Nice chatting to you, hope to see you on the site in future. You too have great taste in music, so keep supporting great artists. Chat soon.
Didn't think I'd be back to this topic yet again but I just read this from Beverley's twitty thing
''Morning my luvs! I am on set shooting my video for my song in your shoes! It's awesome! Spoof Top of the Pops circa 1986! Also my nieces, @DjMunro, booty luv, Nate James, @chipmunkartist, friends are all in it!! Chipmunk is on the single!! EXCITED!!!! Xxxx ''
Can you believe that? She has got Nate James to star in her next video, along with some other celebs, family and friends. I'd love for Bev and Nate to make a love child LOL!
Seems like a decent video, it's a bit of a cheesy 80s dance track so the video is gonna be a cheesy TOTP spoof performance from the eighties..
I'll definitely be keeping this blog on my favourites and coming back to comment, don't worry about that. The music that gets featured on this blog is fantastic, ALL of it!
Yeah, I read that too, sounds awesome, definitely something to watch out for.
LOL! I tottally agree on the lovechild bit. Haha! Imagine how talented that baby would be as well? Woo!
Well, thankyou. I'm pleased you like what is posted here. There's definitely more to come.
